Using Query-By-Example (QBE) Lines

Concept

You can use the query-by-example (QBE) line to narrow down your search for records. The QBE line appears above each column header in a grid. Enter a value, word, or part of a word (known as search string) in a QBE field and click Find.

You can also use special characters such as an asterisk (*) in the QBE line. An asterisk is a wildcard that allows you to search for all values. You can also use operators such as greater than (>) or less than (<) as part of your search string to narrow down your search.

Note: In addition to using QBE lines to search for records, you can define additional search criteria by creating a query. Please refer to the topic Creating Queries in the Working with User Defined Objects lesson.
