Understanding Grids

Concept

A grid is similar to a spreadsheet. You can use grids to display data and enter information. A grid can show multiple data items and multiple table rows at once.

Procedure

In this topic, you will review grids in EnterpriseOne.

Step Action
The system uses grids to display information and to enable users to enter information.

A grid in EnterpriseOne can either be a browse grid or an update grid. You can use a browse grid for viewing only; you cannot select individual cells. You can use an update grid to add, delete, or update records; you can select individual cells.

Step Action
The EnterpriseOne system displays grids in the lower portion of forms.

Each row within a grid represents a record in the database. The intersection of a column and a row on a grid is referred to as a cell.

Step Action
You can personalize grids to make it easier for you to enter and view data. Some of the personalizations and formatting options you can apply within grids are:

• Change the order in which columns are displayed.

• Change the background color of a column.

• Change the width of a grid.

• Change font color and style.

Step Action
You can export data from a grid to Microsoft Excel or other file formats using the Export Grid Data feature.

Step Action
You can choose the export formats and define a cell range from the Export Assistant.
You have reviewed grids in EnterpriseOne.

End of Procedure.
