Setting Up the Revenue Recognition Trigger Hierarchy Working with Revenue Recognition by Ayman Refat - March 20, 2018March 28, 20180 Setting Up the Revenue Recognition Trigger Hierarchy Concept To send invoices to the revenue recongition process, you must set up a hierarchy by company in the Revenue Recognition Trigger Setup program (P03B420). Each organization has different business processes and transaction data that the system uses to determine whether to process an invoice through the recognition process. The system uses specific fields in the transactions to determine whether to submit an invoice to revenue recognition. By setting up the hierarchy by company, you can specify which fields are significant for each company and the order in which the system evaluates the values in the fields. Procedure In this task, you will set up the revenue recognition trigger hierachy for A/R invoices. Step Action Navigate to the Trigger Setup program (P03B420) on the Revenue Recognition menu (G03B412). Click the Revenue Recognition menu. Click the Trigger Setup menu. Use the Revenue Recognition Trigger Setup form to review revenue recognition trigger date setup and hierarchy setup by company. Step Action Click in the Company field. Enter the desired information into the Company field. Enter “1“. Click the Find button. You can use the form to see, at a glance, whether the hierarchy and dates have been set up for each of the systems that send invoices to the revenue recognition process: Sales Order Management, Accounts Receivable, Contract Billing, and Service Billing. Click the horizontal scrollbar. Click the Row menu. Click the Invoice Setup menu. Click the Inv Hierarchy menu. Use the Invoice Trigger Hierarchy form to set up a hierarchy of the fields that the system uses when retrieving the trigger configuration records for an invoice. The system uses the trigger hierarchy to sort the configuration records when comparing to the values of the pay items on the invoice. The system uses the most specific record to determine if the pay item needs to go to the revenue recognition process. Step Action Click in the Business Unit field. Step Action Enter the desired information into the Business Unit field. Enter “2“. Click in the Customer field. Enter the desired information into the Customer field. Enter “3“. Click in the Customer Country field. Enter the desired information into the Customer Country field. Enter “1“. You must enter a number between 1 through 5 to sequence the fields. You cannot skip or repeat numbers in the sequence. You can, however, leave fields blank. The system includes these blank fields in the search after those fields that do have sequence numbers, in the order that they appear on the form. If you enter a sequence number in the Customer Category Code field, you must enter a value in the corresponding Category Code field. In this example, the system reviews the values on an A/R invoice from company 00001 in the following order: Customer Country, Business Unit, and Customer. Click the OK button. You can see that the invoice hierarchy has been set up successfully. Step Action Click the Close button. You have successfully set up the revenue recognition trigger hierachy for A/R invoices.
