A processing option is a parameter to control how an interactive or batch program runs.

You use processing options to instruct the system to perform functions to meet your specific business needs. If a program contains processing options, you set the required and optional processing options for the program during setup or before you run or submit a program.

You can create different versions of a program and define the associated processing options to address specific business needs. You can then set these unique processing options differently in multiple versions of the same application.

If you make changes to processing options for a version, it affects every user who uses that version.
